As a Level 1 Trauma Center, UChicago Medicine offers the highest level of care for life-threatening injuries on the South Side of Chicago. Our ED also features a “rapid assessment unit,” which allows caregivers to quickly assess and treat patients based on the severity of their illness or injury.
